The BHS Financial Assistance Policy for low income uninsured patients is limited to hospital charges only and does not include any physician, anesthesiologist or professional charges that are not billed by BHS. All uninsured patients, regardless of whether they meet BHS policies for charity care or low income uninsured discounts, will be assisted to determine if the patient is eligible for government-sponsored programs, such as Medicaid or other insurance programs, such as AllKids. Applications to apply for such programs will be available at all BHS entities. Financial Assistance applications may not be requested prior to service and do not apply to any elective, cosmetic or non-emergent services. To be eligible for Financial Assistance, the patient must return the financial assistance application along with all required documentation needed to process the request. In the event all information is not returned, the financial assistance application will be deemed non-compliant and the patient will again be responsible for the bill.
